MacMillan 24hr Wodathon at CrossFit Spectrum
At 6pm on Friday 29th June a large number of CrossFit athletes from CrossFit Spectrum, in Preston, gathered to complete a 24hr Wodathon for Macmillan Cancer Support. It was planned and organised by the CrossFit Spectrum athletes who are participating in Battle Cancer later in the year. An open invitation was thrown out to all local CrossFit Boxes and gym goers to come along and join in. It was also brilliant to see Brew & Bake Preston and The Health Shack bring in supplies to support the max effort of the athletes.
Such a gathering of determined people created an incredible buzz with massive mutual support and lots of banter. The atmosphere was electric. For the next 24 hours a WOD (Workout Of the Day) was completed on every hour. A single WOD is quite a physical test but 24 takes it to a whole new level.
From personal experience I fully support the work of cancer charities and wanted to get in and capture the first few hours as a testament to what can be achieved by just a few to affect so many.
