About Peter Austin

This is Peter Austin…..

…and You’ll often see me (but I do try to be invisible most of the time) smiling away all day when it’s your wedding day. IN all I do on your wedding day I strive to not just take great photographs but to also add to the experience you and the guests are having. I really am interested in people.

Here’s the thing, I love lived stories and a wedding day is one of the greatest lived stories to capture. Whatever is happening at your wedding the story needs to be visually remembered with great wedding photography. To have this as my passion is incredible and something that drives me to grow and develop as a photographer.

When not chasing the moment (or even the moments between the moments) I have a pretty full on life with the wife, our son and our cats. The Lake District is a little like my second home and I have traveled many of the trodden paths as well as lots of the ‘far out there’ places too.

Personal stuff

Sometimes you just know what life will be filled with. From a very early age it was obvious that being creative was my bag. I Went and got the usual qualifications up to degree level, in Graphic Illustration, and even trained to be an art teacher up to 6th form level teaching Graphic Design and Photography. I was indeed a ‘sir’ for a while. As a side note I have been the wedding photographer for a few of my former students which has been great fun and deeply rewarding.

I’ve been professionally shooting weddings for around 7 years and taking photographs my whole life. I love it and can’t help but do things creatively all of the time. It’s never been a job, it’s a way of life. I also photograph in other areas too like events, automotive and some corporate work.

Pets….we have two cats. Love cats. If I was an animal I’d want to be a cat.

I’ve been a big outdoors sort since my uni years when I realised that hills and mountains were where my soul lived. That and music. In my youth I was known to adore all things alternative, dark and heavy and although the veneer has aged (well?) the heart still beats to that rhythm.
